Details
This Mim Estate Darjeeling Loose Tea Leaf is a second flush Darjeeling tea that consists of a special full-bodied muscatel taste with notes of currant and close to a wine-like flavor. This tea blend comes from the Mim Estate in northern India and features the Chinese Jat that is responsible for the unique muscatel character of this tea. However, this blend only has limited production since it is grown in high altitudes and cold weather that hinders the tea bushes to grow faster. Second flushed teas, harvested between the end of May until the end of June, are fully developed with a bright and full-rounded muscatel relish. It is a fantastic afternoon blend that is perfectly good with scones and raspberry jam. This Darjeeling tea has a scent and taste comparable to a complex bouquet.

The caffeine content of this tea is MEDIUM. This tea contains natural caffeine found in the L. Camellia Sinensis family. A cup of black tea steeped in boiled water for 5 minutes will contain between 27 to 35 milligrams of caffeine. An equal-sized cup of coffee will contain between 80 to 100 milligrams of caffeine. Caffeine quickly becomes soluble in very hot water. If you wish to reduce the caffeine level in this tea, briefly rinsing the tea leaves in extremely hot water will reduce the caffeine content between 25-50% with only a minor effect on taste.
This tea's antioxidant content is ULTRA HIGH. The longer you steep your tea, the more polyphenols will be extracted, based on the test results of 5 minutes steeping time. Polyphenol percentages may fluctuate with the lot, grade of tea, testing method, the temperature of the water, and freshness of the tea. More antioxidants are extracted from the L. Camellia Sinesis tea when it is brewed longer and get a greater antioxidant benefit when more tea is used.
