The First Firing
The high heat paint requires a heat cycle or two to fully cure. We recommend burning the stove for at least 30 minutes to burn off any trapped solvents. We also recommend getting the stainless steel cooktop hot and scrubbing it with a standard stainless steel grill cleaning brush. This will clean any residue that may be present from manufacturing processes. Now you are ready to cook!
There are many ways to run and cook on your new Watchman Stove. Your imagination is the only limitation. You may even discover a new way to run the stove.
You can choose the Front Feeding option, which is the quickest way to get the stove up to cooking temperature. The Top Feeding option; perfect for cooking with Charcoal or to kick back and enjoy a small fire for s'mores with your family and friends.Featuring an Ash slide which makes dumping hot ashes a breeze. Which also doubles as a secondary air intake while using the top feeding option.
You can enjoy the options of Direct and indirect cooking practices with ease. Use some seasoned wood or wood chips and enjoy the flavor with either option.
The Potato Plate makes keeping food warm simple and efficient. The plate is warmest around the 3 sides of the vertical 6" Tube; it averages 300 degrees F. The 4 outside corners are usually 50-75 degrees cooler. The purpose of the shelf is to cook corn, potatoes, shrimp in a pan with butter, for warming side dishes, sauce, or even warming up a quick cup of coffee. Who wouldn't enjoy a fire warmed cup of joe? The versatility of this stove and its rugged build will give you years of enjoyable outdoor cooking
